Meet the Authors

Welcome! We started Gems in the Attic in 2016. The founding members were all published long ago by Kensington's Precious Gem Romance line. Since we were all friends, we thought a group blog would be a fun thing to do.

Several authors have resigned from the blog, but you'll still see posts by them in Past Posts. We're hoping they may one day come back to Gems in the Attic.

Life takes us along many different paths. We've all grown since then, written more books, made new friends, and branched out into all directions.

Now, we're going to grow this blog in the same way...branching out in new directions and bringing in authors whose books are GEMS too.

So fasten your seatbelts and get ready for a brand new exciting year with new authors--new voices--bigger conversations and giveaways too.

2019 is going to be awesome!

Bonnie Edwards wrote as Bonnie Adams for Precious Gems Romance shortly before the line stopped publishing. Since then, she’s helped launch the Aphrodisia imprint for Kensington Books and published with Harlequin and Carina Press. She believes life should be lived with joy. That joy shows up in her earthy, irreverent love stories.

Publishing has changed in the years since Precious Gems and taking charge of her publishing life has been both rewarding and challenging, but change is life and life is change so she’s embraced self-publishing with her heart and soul.

Sometimes her stories have a paranormal twist, likes curses and ghosts, other times not. But they’re always entertaining and guarantee a happy ending. Find Bonnie online at: Amazon Author Page * Twitter * Facebook * Goodreads. Sign up for her newsletter.

Hannah Rowan is a life-long Jersey girl who covered news for her local paper for many years. She wrote a gossip column, profiled prominent citizens, and wrote a humor column weekly.

Hannah has also had articles published in national magazines. But maybe the most fun of all, she thinks, was having her first novel published by Kensington Precious Gems, and a paranormal novel published by one of the first e-publishers.

Hannah lives in New Jersey with her husband and 105 pound Golden Doodle. She is currently at work on several new stories.

Jan Scarbrough
is the author of the popular Bluegrass Reunion series, writing heartwarming contemporary romances about family and second chances, and if the plot allows—horses.

Living in the horse country of Kentucky makes it easy for Jan to add small town Southern charm to her books, and the excitement of a horse race or a competitive horse show.

A member of Novelist, Inc., Jan's published with Kensington, Five Star, ImaJinn Books, Resplendence Publishing and Turquoise Morning Press.

Joan Reeves ~ Keeping Romance Alive...One Sexy Book at a Time ~ is a NYT and USA Today bestselling author of Contemporary Romance.

Joan's books are available in France through Milady Romance, an imprint of Bragelonne. Her romance novels—available as ebooks, print books, and audio books—all have the same premise: “It’s never too late to live happily ever after.”

Joan lives her happily ever after with her husband in the Lone Star State. They divide their time between a book-cluttered home in Houston and a small house at the foot of the Texas Hill Country. At night, they sit on the porch of their home in the country, look up at the star-studded sky, and listen to the coyotes howl.

Karen Kelley is a USA Today bestselling author.

She's written books for Kensington, Berkley and Sourcebooks. When she decided to step out of her comfort zone and strike out on her own by going independent, she found the adventure very satisfying.

Not only has she gone independent with her writing but, along with her husband, they've given away or sold most of their belongings, put their house on the market, moved into an RV and added solar panels.

Karen and her hubby plan to travel the country until they get tired of the gypsy lifestyle. Never fear. While they're doing that, Karen will be looking for new adventures in life as well as in her writing.

Award winning author Karen Whiddon spun fanciful tales for her younger brothers as early as the age of eleven.

Growing up in the Catskill Mountains of New York, then the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, she found enough magic in the rugged peaks to keep her imagination fueled for years.

Now making her home in North Texas, she shares her life with her hero-like husband and four doting dogs.

In her spare time she volunteers for Legacy Boxer Rescue, Inc. Karen has published around 45 books. Currently she writes for Harlequin Romantic Suspense and Harlequin Nocturne. You can email Karen at KWhiddon1@aol.com

Kathleen Lawless who wrote as Kathi Webb and Kathleen Webb is now writing as Kathleen Lawless. Her books have garnered rave reviews and numerous awards including Romantic Times K.I.S.S., a Scarlett Letter, and a Golden Quill.

Kathleen’s earliest memories are of wanting to be a writer. To create stories that would touch the lives of others who love to read the way she does. She is working on her 20th novel.

"It’s amazing to see the changes in traditional publishing, including ebooks and the opportunities writers have to interact with their readers.” Kathleen enjoys pushing the boundaries of traditional romance into erotic romance, romantic suspense, women’s fiction and stories for young adults. She also knows about happy endings. “Can you believe I wrote A HARD MAN TO LOVE with a hero named Steele, years before I met my own hero named Steel? He’s far and away the most romantic man I’ve ever known.”

Nancy Fraser is an award-winning author of over twenty-five romance novels and novellas. Her books have been published in a half-dozen foreign languages as well as in audio format. Nancy will celebrate her twentieth year as a published author in November of 2016 ... all thanks to that first sale to Precious Gems.

Nancy currently writes for Decadent Publishing, Entangled Publishing, Soul Mate Publishing, and The Wild Rose Press. Nancy spreads her creativity across multiple genres that range from vintage (think 1950s-60s) sweet romance to both historical and contemporary erotic romance and everything in between.

When not writing, Nancy loves to travel (with a special fondness for Las Vegas), and spend as much time as possible with her five grandchildren.

Thanks for visiting us. Come back soon and check out the new authors who will appear on this page.
